The Sanctuary of Christ UMC is being renovated piece by piece, and to start we are working on the stained glass windows. These pieces of art will include some of the stained glass from the original Sanctuary windows. Ever a work in progress, we are looking for individuals, families and/or groups who would like to donate a window to be installed in our beautiful sanctuary, bringing light and story to our timeless building. Each window will be accompanied by a plaque in memoriam.
Below is a bit more information about the newest panel that has been installed and dedicated. If you have a question about the stained glass windows themselves, contact Eileen Vestal by email. If you have a question about Memorials or purchasing or contributing towards these new windows, contact Barbara Richards by email or phone.
A decade ago, a "Windows Committee" was formed to consider replacing the original windows installed by the builders of our sanctuary in the 1950's. The Committee had two aims: one, to increase the light entering the sanctuary, and to honor loved ones for whom donations are held in trust with the Memorials Committee. A design representing the Wasatch Front mountains visible from our church building was submitted. It includes the re-use of stained glass from the original triangles of red, blue, and green in a border around each panel.
Eight panels in total to replace the East side Sanctuary windows are being constructed by our neighbors at Beehive Glass. All of the eight East side panels have been purchased as memorial windows.
Each window is $4,000. There are several options for donating a window. Here are several examples:
