At Christ UMC, we have activities for women of all ages, including monthly gatherings, a book club, crafting and knitting groups, a group for the encouragement and support of young mothers, and more!
United Methodist Women
To know God and develop a creative, supportive friendship
The missions of United Methodist Women (UMW) focus on needs of women of all ages, as well as children. See the UMW bulletin board outside the gym for details of our current mission projects happening at Christ UMC. For 150 years, members of United Methodist Women and predecessor organizations have been involved in mission that includes prayer, study, and action.
The UMW of Christ Methodist is made up of women from various life stages and with many different interests. There are monthly small group meetings called circles. The UMW also sponsors luncheons and informational meetings. Those occasions will be announced on the home page of this website. Any woman can be a member of UMW, and there are no dues and no attendance requirements. We invite all women of Christ UMC to come join the fun! |

More Activities for Women
Witty Knitters
Meeting together to knit Prayer Shawls, which are then prayed over by the group and given to those challenged by health concerns, facing hospital procedures or stays, or who have experienced loss.
Women's Book Club
Generally meeting the 4th Monday of each month (except July). Please check the Connection newsletter for meeting time/date, and book of the month. The goal in our group is to read one book chosen from each UMW Reading Program category: Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action, and Spiritual Growth. The rest of the reading year is discretionary reading, chosen by the group from suggestions by members.
The UMW Reading Program is a study opportunity, but it also encourages members to think critically about current issues through an annual selection of member-reviewed books. It offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your spirituality and to broaden your understanding of our mission work.

Silver Christmas Tea
Christ UMC regularly hosts a Silver Christmas Tea - all women are invited to join this time of fellowship, tasty goodies, and of course celebrating Christmas!
Helping Young Girls
Days for Girls
Many girls around the world have to miss school during their periods, leading to many of them eventually dropping out. Days for Girls, an international organization that began in 2008, is working to shatter stigmas and limitations, and to increase access to sustainable menstrual care in developing countries, in refugee camps, and around the world.
Volunteers from Christ UMC have been assisting the cause by making cloth drawstring bags for high-quality, washable, reusable menstrual care kits since 2017. There are many tasks involved, which need different workers with different skillsets (sewing and non-sewing): cutting fabric, pressing, pinning, marking fabric, sewing, serging, adding drawstrings. New volunteers are always welcome! We meet on Saturdays toward the end of each month from September through June (except December). We work in partnership with the Davis County Center of Days for Girls, and UMW sponsors this project. Women from the wider community are also welcomed to participate! |
