I didn't enter the lottery to attend Rex's funeral for fear of using a spot of someone closer to him. I was glad to be able to watch the taped version. Dave Robinson's eulogy made me cry...he described Rex so accurately. But then Gabe spoke and I was a blithering idiot; what a tribute to a father! It was profound and familiar at the same time, and surely difficult to deliver. Yes, Rex was proud of his boys and spoke of them always. All 4 Dablings were so different, independent, and accomplished in a variety of ways. At church we saw them shine constantly! Rex taught me plenty of carpentry in Oklahoma, but also how to laugh at himself. Leave a Reply. |
